Panto season is in full swing! Oh no it isn't... oh yes it is and all that jazz! This is a quick 2 minute review of Aladdin at the Empty Space, Media City. My 9 year old sister is part of the cast so I'll try an be as unbiased as I can š .

This is the Empty Space's first venture into Panto-Land and in short, they've smashed it! The principal cast are all professionally trained performers and this can be seen throughout the show. Widow Twanky and Abanazer (spelling?!) are by far the stand outs of the show with great audience interaction and comedic timing from beginning to end.
I always find it a bit strange that Panto puts in random pop songs throughout the story and this show was no different. We had "Blinding Lights", "About Damn Time" and "Levitating" to name a few. Although, I will say they didn't stick out as much as in other shows I have seen so great work from the creative team here!
Overall, this version of Aladdin is a magical alternative to the mainstream Pantos of the Opera House and the festive shows of the Lowry. It's only on until 24th December so get your tickets if you haven't already!
